Welcome to Multilingual Mums,
the space for mothers with 2 or more languages
to connect with each other in a place where they belong,
find common ground and inspiration
in their shared yet diverse experiences,
and learn how to create space in their life
for their languages and cultures,
so that they can feel more confident
in their mix of languages and identities
and flourish wherever they are,
supported by a network of women who see them.
What brings you to Multilingual Mums?
There was something about language and motherhood
that caught your attention.
We all have different stories in these ever-changing journeys.
Perhaps you recognize yourself in one these situations…
you learned your languages at a young age or later in life?
you have a heritage language that you or your children may or may not speak?
you and your partner have different languages that you use with your children?
you are moving to a new place and are learning the language with your children?
you are wanting to spend summers in a country to get language practice?
you are afraid of losing a language or you are trying to forget a language?
you’re introducing a speaker of a new language into the family?
your child is learning a language at school and you want to support them?
Maybe none of these quite fits you
but you still have a feeling you are in the right place.
Yes! That’s the feeling we want to create here!
You are safe to belong as you are,
and as you figure it out in all your roles and relationships.
You belong here if
you are looking for connection
both with yourself,
in your own mixed identity where you can be enough,
and with others,
who can help you create a space that is a reflection of you now
and that can grow with you and your family
as life happens and things shift.
Where are you on your journey through motherhood?
You are welcome here in any stage over your lifetime.
Questions about language and identity often come up most for mothers when you have young children,
but it can happen any time, especially when experiencing changes like starting school or moving to a new place.
Perhaps you don’t have children yet but anticipate it in the future and want to set yourself up for success.
Perhaps your children are grown,
and you may even have grandchildren you want to connect with around your languages and cultures.
We may naturally look for people who are in the same stage as us,
but we as mothers need the support of those who have already been through it before.
What are you looking for?
Maybe you are trying to connect more with yourself.
Maybe you want tools to connect with your family
so that everyone feels valued and that they belong.
Maybe you are looking to feel more connected
and at home in your local community.
Maybe you dream of connecting with a larger,
global network of women who support each other.
There’s a place for all of these desires
and they can feed each other as we create our stories.
Where do you want to start?
It’s a question of where you are in your unique journey:
where you have been,
where you are now,
and wherever you may be headed in the future.
Know that you are not alone in your journey,
whether you’re working more on your relationship with yourself or with others.
In the end, it is all intertwined.
I want to start by focusing on
-
MY WHOLE SELF
(past, present and future)
(physical, mental and emotional)
so that I can become
whoever I want to be.
-
MY FAMILY
so that I feel confident at home,
can let go of expectation and guilt,
and find love, energy and joy.
-
MY LOCAL COMMUNITY
to find and create
opportunities and relationships
where we feel we belong,
just as we are,
and have space to grow.
-
MY GLOBAL NETWORK
where I feel the power of women
who share a common ground
and bring diverse experiences
to create a valuable web of support
that is there when I need it.
Still not sure where to start?
That’s ok.
Join us in the community and see what catches your interest.
Attend the introductory workshop on zoom for the full experience.
Or book a call with Anna to explore it all. And we’ll go from there!
You can take your time wading in or you can dive right in.
What’s your style?
“Anna……”
